Irish genealogy and record research can present certain challenges. In this webinar, John Grenham will explore ways in which visualizing the locations of households of particular surnames in Catholic records, Griffith's Valuation, census records, and records of births, marriages, and deaths can help with genealogy and local history.

John will provide vivid examples of just how local some names are and how impossibly widespread others can be. In addition, some of the webinar’s focus will be on maps of the geographic areas used to collect the records, including the technical background involved in creating the maps and how to use the maps to shed light on the surnames and families.
